Hayretle izliyorum. Eskiden birbirimize entelektüel katkılar sunardık, birbirimizi biz büyütürdük. Şimdi her şeyi sakınır olduk.

“My hometown runs slower and calmer than big cities. It sustains the traditions and customs. People don’t act as if their lives are ruined when they miss a train. family relations and dynamics are enjoyable, you can really feel the unity, it’s almost solid. Blood relation is supported by idealistic harmony, I think this is important. When you are feeling down, there are mant people other than family which you can visit unannounced. This is because the relationships are unsparing. For example: My brother stayed at the hospital for five months. It was a rough time for us. We would have collapsed if our friends hadn’t been there for us all the time. You wouldn’t believe; a family cooked and brought pots of food to us, for lunch and dinner throughout these five months; unbelievable. This is amazing, especially in this century. If you had a guest, even if they are your enemies, it is a duty to share your food with hospitality.”

“I don’t have many expectations. And I don’t prepare a to-do list to be happy. I am happy when I create something, accomplish something. I look around, People are unhappy, they blame the government for everything. Okay, they are right, they are the reason for the corruption around us, of course we blame them for many things. We have to criticize, the opposite is unthinkable. But for a moment, let’s face the society. Didn’t we choose these people and put them there? They didn’t come from space for sure, we were the ones who chose them.

So we should search the source of this problem. The society should shake and come to it’s senses, face our image in the mirror for once. We keep saying good words and speak sweetly but they are empty underneath, we have to support these words so the gap between our words and reality doesn’t swallow us.”

“There is a great change. When it comes to rivalry, people can get very cruel. We were people who got happy with small things. I watch with astonishment.  We used to support each other and share a common intellectual ground. We used to grow together. Now, we forsaken everything from each other. Personal interests surpassed us. We began to impose kids with the idea of competition and how to be the first, the second or thirds in anything. So kiddos began to see each other as opponents.

Ten years from now, these people will continue living this way. Oppressing each other, pushing and wedging their way towards being the first, the one and only. When they get to win this competition, they won’t find a soul to celebrate with.

Is it fair to expect responsibility from a generation that is educated this way? When we look at youngsters, they aren’t happy either.

They all seem so depressed. We were people who used to share the same circle. We can do it again, as long as we give a fair education. We should starting teaching our values before anything. I think the concept of what is valuable should be taught in schools, because they are diminishing each day. We came to understand freedom differently. Women rights differently. Democracy differently. All of these values should be reset and defined once again to reach a common ground.”
