İbadettin, 11 yaşında, İstanbul, Bağcılar’da yaşıyor.
“Fevzi Çakmak Mahallesi’nde yaşıyorum. Annemlen babam evde, ben de buralarda peçete satıyorum. Okula gidiyorum, beşe. Dersimi yapıyorum öyle satıyorum. Hep 1 liraya satıyorum. 3 tane alırlarsa 3 lira. 4 tane alırlarsa 4 lira. Bitince Bim’den gene alıyorum. Batman’da doğdum, sonra buraya gelmişiz, ben fazla bilmiyorum. Kürtçe de bilmiyorum, annemler biliyo ama.”
“Büyüyünce çalışacam, abimin yanında. İleride bi tane işyeri var, orda çalışıyor. Iııııı hepsini satcam ya peçetelerin, ondan kivimi hızlı içmem lazım. (Aceleyle kivi çayını yudumluyor.)”
“Paramı hep cüzdanıma koyuyorum kimse çalmasın diye, sonra anneme veriyorum, o da ayakkabı alıyor, okulda eşyalarımı alıyor. Ona her gün para veriyom çünkü. Bi de gamzelerim varmış, annem söyledi.”
“Ben bazen tatil de yapıyorum, bazen buralara geliyorum tatil için ama mendil satmıyorum, bi tek dolaşıyorum. Büyünce belki polis de olurum, (pantolonunun yan tarafını göstererek) silahları buraya koyunca çok güçlü oluyolar ya… Ama önce okulumu bitirmem lazım.”
İbadettin, 11 years old, lives in Bağcılar, İstanbul.
“I live in Fevzi Çakmak Neighborhood. My mum and dad are home, and I’m selling pocket tissue around here. I go to school, to 5th grade. I do my homework, then I sell it. I always sell it for 1 lira. If they buy 3 packs, they’ll pay 3 liras. If they buy 4, it’s 4 liras. When I sell them all, I get from Bim again. I was born in Batman, then we came here, I don’t know much. I don’t speak Kurdish either, but my parents do.”
“When I grow up, I will work, with my brother. There’s a workplace a little further ahead, he’s working there. Hmmmm, because I will sell all the tissues, so I need to drink my kiwi tea fast. (He’s sipping his kiwi tea in a hurry.)”
“I always put my money in my wallet so no one can steal it, then I give it to my mother, she buys me shoes, some supplies for school. Because I give her money every day. Besides, I had dimples, my mum said.”
“I sometimes take a vacation, sometimes I come around here again for the vacation but not to sell tissue, just to walk around. When I grow up, maybe I’ll be a policeman, (by holding the right side of his pants) they’re very powerful when they put the guns in here. Yet I have to finish my school first.”
